Our Beautiful Lakes

Lake Norfork

One of the major U.S. Army Corps of Engineers impoundments in The Natural State, Lake Norfork has over 550 miles of shoreline and covers some 22,000 acres. Almost all varieties of fresh water game fish are found in the lake which is fed by the North Fork River and its tributaries. Bass, walleye, crappie, bream and catfish all make their home in its waters. There are 20 developed Corps parks which provide plenty of opportunities for camping and for water sports. Boating, water skiing, scuba diving and swimming are all extremely popular on the lake. Norfork is one of the best lakes in the country for striper fishing. Stripers in the 25-40 lb. class are caught each year. Black bass fishing is at its best from September through May, and an increasingly popular sport on the lake is night fishing with lights for crappie and white bass. Commercial docks on the lake have boats, motors, guides, and equipment for diving. In addition to parks for camping, there are many resorts offering accommodations, some with private docks, swimming pools, and other recreational amenities. The North Fork River below the dam is a popular and productive trout stream, and the Norfork National Fish Hatchery assures a continuous supply of trout to maintain the populations of the North Fork, the White and other area trout streams.

Bull Shoals

Straddling the border of Arkansas and Missouri—Bull Shoals covers more than 71,240 acres. This lake's massive size makes it ideal for the water sports enthusiast and fishermen alike. 1,050 miles of shoreline provide plenty of room for everyone. Local resorts, marinas, and trout docks can provide everything you need for skiing, scuba diving, boat rentals, and guided fishing trips. Bull Shoals has yielded five state records from all five major bass species. As an added bonus, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission stocks this lake with 135,000 Rainbow trout each year, making this lake truly unique. The Corps of Engineers manages seventeen parks around the lake. Most of these parks feature picnic tables, grills, pavilions, electricity, campgrounds, and boat ramps. Rivercliff golf course provides an awesome view of the dam from fairway and putting green.

Recreation

Bull Shoals Lake & Lake Norfork spread a sparkling double welcome mat for you filled with good times. Together the Lakes create a shoreline of approximately 1,600 miles and nearly 100,000 surface acres of water to frolic. Fishing, water-skiing, scuba diving, sail boating, house boating, swimming….you’ll never run out of ways to have fun. Besides water sports and recreation, this area also offers golf, tennis hiking, camping, hunting, and great fishing.
